Sophie’s Place (C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital)
Project Overview:
Students will collaborate with Sophie’s Place at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital to develop patient-centered educational resources focused on maternal mental health, family well-being, and access to supportive care services. Using graphic medicine principles, students will create engaging, evidence-based materials that communicate complex health information in a compassionate and accessible way for diverse patient populations.
What Students Will Do:

Research maternal mental health topics, including postpartum emotional wellness and available support services.

Project Overview:
Students will collaborate with Michigan Medicine Women’s Hospital to improve healthcare navigation for expectant and new mothers through accessible patient education resources. The project focuses on reducing barriers to care by helping patients better understand postpartum recovery, available healthcare services, and mental health and social support resources.
What Students Will Do:

Interdisciplinary Project: Community Action Network (CAN)
Project Overview:
Students will lead an interactive, in-person workshop introducing participants to the field of public health and how it shapes the health of entire communities. Through real-world examples, group discussions, interactive activities, and public health challenges, AIM members will help students explore the role of prevention, education, research, policy, and community decision-making in improving health outcomes.
What Students Will Do:

Lead interactive workshops introducing students to public health and its role in community health.

Introduce students to careers and organizations within public health.

Facilitate discussions on how community decisions and policies affect health.

Lead a hands-on budget challenge where students allocate limited resources across competing public health priorities.
